He shaped many of my dining experiences as a young adult and has left a great legacy of having influenced how Melbournians now take for granted a more casual, focussed yet stylish approach to dining. Vale Donlevy Fitzpatrick.

A great mate with a fine sense of the value of simple pleasures

I feel very sad. I never met him but he created my St Kilda which the council is trying its best to ruin.

What a sad loss of a great man. His legacy will live on for many years. He was an elegant visionary. Thanks for the foie gras Don and thanks to Jill and Terry for the bottle of eis wein that we all enjoyed with it.

Visionary, that's certainly the word. Not cashing in on the latest trend, but setting them. I lived round the corner from the Dog's Bar when that opened, and moved to behind the George in time for that. They were our places; and he was the man. Always tylish, humble and charming. He leaves an enduring legacy.
